The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head of Psychology to lead a department and inspire students across the two-year A Level course. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of psychology education in a supportive and forward-thinking academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a department of three staff, including mentoring an ECT.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across KS3 and KS4 Biology, and A Level Psychology.
  • Engage fully in the extra-curricular life of the school and run enrichment sessions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and innovative teaching approach.
  • Support the academic and pastoral development of students across the school.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through leadership and professional development.
  • Stay up to date with current research and developments in the field of Psychology.
  • Ensure all students receive a challenging and inspiring curriculum.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Psychology and Biology.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Psychology and Biology.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting ECTs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Experience with A Level Psychology curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for extra-curricular engagement and student development.
  • Familiarity with United Learning’s educational philosophy and values.
