The Opportunity:
Join a dynamic team as a Trainee Teacher of Health and Social Care. This one-year training position offers a pathway to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the opportunity to develop your teaching skills in a well-resourced and supportive department. You will be mentored by experienced subject specialists, ensuring a smooth and effective transition into teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality lessons in Health and Social Care to students at a Catholic Sixth Form.
- Work closely with a mentor to develop teaching practice and receive ongoing support.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities provided by the Borromeo Training Hub.
- Contribute to the school's mission of promoting academic excellence and character education.
- Support students in achieving their full potential through engaging and innovative teaching methods.
- Prepare and mark student work, with flexibility to complete tasks offsite where possible.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance the learning experience for all students.
- Engage with the school's pastoral and community activities to support student well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
- Commitment to train as a teacher and passion for the subject of Health and Social Care.
- Eligibility to train for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and take responsibility for student learning.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or related educational roles.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Knowledge of Health and Social Care curriculum and pedagogy.
- Experience with character education or pastoral support programs.
- Familiarity with ITT (Initial Teacher Training) programs and mentoring processes.
