The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Year 6 English Teacher to join our outstanding team. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging English lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and pedagogical approach.
- Use direct instruction and other effective teaching methods to ensure student progress and achievement.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages respect, creativity, and a love of learning.
- Support the development of students’ reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver cross-curricular projects and enrichment activities.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing targeted feedback and interventions where needed.
- Engage with parents and the wider school community to support student learning and development.
- Participate in professional development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant experience in primary education.
- Strong subject knowledge in English, with the ability to deliver a well-sequenced, knowledge-rich curriculum.
- Commitment to the school’s ethos of high expectations, strong behavior standards, and a warm/strict approach.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience in using direct instruction and other evidence-based teaching strategies.
Preferred
- Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development.
- Familiarity with the City of London Academies Trust values and approach to education.
- Experience in delivering English across the school, including reading and writing.
- Demonstrated success in raising student achievement and engagement.
