The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate A Level Classical Civilisation Course Leader to join a dynamic and nationally recognised department. This role involves leading and teaching across a range of modules, including World of the Hero, Imperial Image, and Greek Religion, with a focus on delivering high-quality, student-centred lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and teach across the A Level Classical Civilisation programme, including World of the Hero, Imperial Image, and Greek Religion.
  • Design and deliver creative and impactful lessons that promote student engagement and learning.
  • Support the development of the department’s curriculum, including the new Imperial Image module.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and high-quality teaching experience for students.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students where appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students achieve their full potential.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject and incorporate innovative teaching methods into lessons.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree in a relevant subject area.
  • A proven track record of delivering Classical Civilisation or related subjects at KS5.
  • Experience in course leadership or a similar role.
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
  • Ability to design and deliver creative, student-centred lessons.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching the Imperial Image module or the ability to plan and design this unit.
  • Experience with the Classical Association or involvement in related educational organisations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working within a large, successful educational institution.
