The Opportunity:

As an Animal Care Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching to both full-time and part-time students. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and assessing learning activities, while supporting the development of essential skills such as literacy, numeracy, and digital capability. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and interactive teaching across a range of full-time and part-time Animal Care programmes.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning activities to ensure a high standard of education.
  • Support the development of essential skills, including literacy, numeracy, and digital capability.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the delivery of key skills within the Animal Care department.
  • Promote a positive learning environment that encourages attendance, punctuality, and student retention.
  • Utilise IT tools such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Stay up to date with current educational initiatives and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Provide guidance and support to students to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Animal Care or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching or training within a further education or vocational setting.
  • Intermediate IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with learner management systems and e-learning platforms.
  • Experience with virtual learning environments and student record systems.
  • Creative and innovative approach to developing teaching materials.
  • Understanding of current educational initiatives and trends in vocational training.
