The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Applied Science Course Leader to join our Science Department and lead our Level 3 Vocational Applied Science provision. This role offers the chance to shape the future of science education and inspire the next generation of learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of BTEC Applied Science and related courses.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Department to develop and implement new science courses.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across a range of science subjects.
  • Support the development of curriculum and departmental leadership initiatives.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the school’s digital innovation strategy and use of technology in teaching and learning.
  • Participate in staff development, training, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Engage in wider college activities, including student support and enrichment programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in Applied Science and related science disciplines.
  • Proven experience in teaching and leading science courses at Level 3.
  • Excellent classroom practice and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Commitment to active and innovative teaching and learning.
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development and departmental leadership.
  • Experience working in a post-16 education setting.

Preferred

  • Experience with AAQ Medical Science, Human Biology, or other relevant vocational science courses.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and strategies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Experience with safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Background in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary on NJC scale 1 – 9 (£38,539 - £56,788) inclusive of Inner London Weighting.
  • Additional responsibility allowance (RAS) of £1,353.
