The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science Faculty, you will lead a large and dynamic team of teachers, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across the Science department. This is a senior leadership role with a focus on academic excellence, university preparation, and strategic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a large faculty of over 50 teachers, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Line manage 5 Heads of Subject and hold them accountable for performance, academic outcomes, and safeguarding.
  • Set high expectations for Science teachers and ensure underperformance is formally challenged.
  • Support and develop Heads of Subject to be effective leaders of learning.
  • Take on whole-school responsibilities based on skills and experience.
  • Coordinate recruitment of high-quality Science teachers and liaise with the exams officer.
  • Maintain a professional and effective working environment within the Science faculty.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior educational role.
  • Extensive teaching and leadership experience in Science or a related field.
  • Experience in managing and developing faculty teams.
  • Strong understanding of international curricula, including Cambridge and AP programs.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning and academic development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a faculty with a focus on university preparation.
  • Familiarity with assessment strategies and data collection for academic improvement.
  • Experience in professional development planning and delivery.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and pastoral care in an educational setting.
