The Opportunity:

As an Art and Design Technician, you will play a key role in supporting creative learning and ensuring that students have access to high-quality art and design resources. This is a vital position that directly contributes to the development of students’ artistic skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and supply art and design materials, including canvases, paints, clays, and specialist equipment for classes and exhibitions.
  • Maintain and organize art and design equipment, ensuring it is in safe, functional condition.
  • Manage the storage and inventory of art materials, keeping the workspace tidy and organized.
  • Assist in setting up art displays and exhibitions, including mounting artwork and managing materials.
  • Provide technical support to students during lessons and practical activities.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, managing budgets, and supporting teaching assistants.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff by following safety procedures.
  • Support other classes in a teaching assistant capacity when needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as an art technician or teaching assistant within a school environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and time-management abilities.
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS).
  • Commitment to child protection and safeguarding practices.

Preferred

  • Experience with art and design equipment and materials.
  • Knowledge of curriculum requirements and teaching practices.
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional support requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £21,000–£23,000 (dependent on experience).
