The Opportunity:
The Head of Design and Technology will lead a dynamic department and inspire young learners across Years 7 to 13. This role is ideal for a passionate and creative professional looking to make a lasting impact in a highly regarded educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Design and Technology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Deliver a curriculum that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and confidence in students.
- Develop and implement the new A Level Design and Technology course from September 2026.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance departmental resources.
- Support student enrichment and extension opportunities within the subject.
- Promote the values and ethos of the school through teaching and leadership.
- Ensure the department maintains outstanding academic results and student engagement.
- Work closely with support staff to maintain excellent workshop and prep room facilities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A well-qualified graduate with a degree in Design and Technology or a related subject, preferably with a PGCE.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Design and Technology.
- Experience teaching Design and Technology to students across KS3, GCSE, and A Level.
- Strong leadership and team-working abilities.
- Commitment to the welfare and safeguarding of students and staff.
- A dedication to diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in the school community.
Preferred
- Experience with AQA specifications for GCSE and A Level Design and Technology.
- Background in engineering, product design, or construction.
- Demonstrated success in delivering high academic results and student engagement.
- Involvement in co-curricular activities and school life.
