Sports Teaching Assistant needed in Fordham, Cambridge. Support students through sports and mentoring.

The Opportunity:
As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will support students through structured sports and physical activity sessions, while also providing mentoring and interventions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about using sport to improve young people's wellbeing and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students through structured sports and physical activity sessions.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring to help students develop emotionally and socially.
- Plan and deliver outcome-focused sports and Zones of Regulation interventions.
- Support students during periods of dysregulation and ensure their emotional wellbeing.
- Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to support student needs.
- Assist teaching staff in Sports lessons and other subject areas when required.
- Develop sporting opportunities in the local community and within the school.
- Create and implement school-specific mentoring programmes.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships and act as a trusted role model.
- Confidence in supporting students during dysregulation and delivering interventions.
- Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in sports teaching or mentoring.
- Knowledge of Zones of Regulation or similar intervention strategies.
- Previous experience in alternative education settings.
- Familiarity with supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, or emotional support needs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £22,601 to £25,194, dependent on experience.
- Term-time only working hours (39 weeks including 5 inset days).
