The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Art and Design Technician to provide essential support to teaching staff and students. This role is ideal for someone with a creative background and practical skills in Art and Design, who is passionate about education and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a wide range of equipment and machinery used in Art and Design, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and sewing machines.
  • Assist with technical demonstrations and provide materials for lessons.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed within the department.
  • Support budgeting and resource management within the department.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance the learning experience for students.
  • Maintain and update ICT and CAD/CAM systems.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manage procurement of materials.
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance and control standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong creative background in Art and Design.
  • Experience using Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with students, staff, and suppliers.
  • Practical skills in resistant materials such as wood, metal, and plastic.
  • Ability to manage resources within a budget.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
  • Knowledge of electronic testing equipment.
  • Previous experience in an educational setting.
