The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Art Teacher to cover a maternity leave position starting in May 2026. This role offers the chance to contribute to a school committed to academic excellence and the development of pupils through a rigorous and engaging curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality art lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Support the delivery of GCSE Art at Key Stage 4.
  • Foster a love of art and creativity among students.
  • Collaborate with the art department to enhance teaching and learning practices.
  • Contribute to the development of a knowledge-based and visually engaging curriculum.
  • Implement a clear and consistent approach to behaviour and instruction.
  • Promote a warm/strict environment that supports pupil progress and achievement.
  • Participate in instructional coaching and lesson observations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in art education.
  • Proven track record of delivering engaging and effective art lessons.
  • Commitment to raising pupil achievement and inspiring a passion for art.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental development.
  • Experience with curriculum development and pedagogical best practice.

Preferred

  • Experience with GCSE Art curriculum delivery.
  • Familiarity with instructional coaching and lesson observation processes.
  • Experience in a high-performing school or multi-academy trust.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management in a secondary school setting.
  • Passion for developing the life chances of young people through art.
