The Opportunity:
As an Art Subject Leader, you will play a key role in driving improvements in teaching and learning across the Art department. You will lead the delivery of a high-quality curriculum and ensure that students achieve excellent outcomes in GCSE and A level Art, Graphic Communication, and Photography. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of art education at a school with ambitious goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Art curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards and supports student achievement.
- Monitor and improve the quality of teaching and learning across the department.
- Support and mentor Art teachers to enhance their practice and professional development.
- Coordinate the delivery of GCSE and A level courses, including the use of specialist software and facilities.
- Work with colleagues to ensure a consistent and effective approach to assessment and feedback.
- Promote a culture of innovation and creativity within the department.
- Engage with students and parents to support their progress and aspirations in Art.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to contribute to the school’s strategic vision and improvement plans.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Art and Design at Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A level.
- Proven track record in leading and improving teaching and learning in a school setting.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a department.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to raising attainment for all students, including those eligible for pupil premium funding.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum design and development.
- Familiarity with the latest educational research and pedagogical approaches.
- Experience with Teaching Leaders or Future Leaders programmes.
- Knowledge of NPQ qualifications and a commitment to professional development.
- Experience working in a school with a strong focus on student enrichment and extracurricular opportunities.
