The Opportunity:

As an Art Teacher, you will inspire students of all abilities through creative expression and hands-on learning. You will lead dynamic art experiences that foster confidence, self-expression, and a love for the arts, while contributing to school-wide events and community exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver inclusive, engaging art lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Encourage exploration of various art media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics.
  • Lead whole-school initiatives such as Art Week and other creative events that celebrate student talent.
  • Curate and showcase student artwork in school and community exhibitions.
  • Support the development of students’ confidence, creativity, and self-advocacy through art.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a vibrant, inclusive creative culture.
  • Provide opportunities for students to experiment with materials and techniques in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Work closely with students, families, and staff to ensure a personalized and meaningful learning experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching art to students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of various art media and techniques.
  • Ability to design and deliver inclusive, engaging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative, supportive team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working with autistic students or students with additional needs.
  • Background in curriculum development or special education.
  • Experience in organizing and leading school-wide creative events or exhibitions.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and student-centered learning approaches.
