The Opportunity:
As an Art Teacher, you will inspire students of all abilities through creative expression and hands-on learning. You will lead dynamic art experiences that foster confidence, self-expression, and a love for the arts, while contributing to school-wide events and community exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver inclusive, engaging art lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Encourage exploration of various art media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics.
- Lead whole-school initiatives such as Art Week and other creative events that celebrate student talent.
- Curate and showcase student artwork in school and community exhibitions.
- Support the development of students’ confidence, creativity, and self-advocacy through art.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a vibrant, inclusive creative culture.
- Provide opportunities for students to experiment with materials and techniques in a safe and supportive environment.
- Work closely with students, families, and staff to ensure a personalized and meaningful learning experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching art to students with diverse needs and abilities.
- Strong knowledge of various art media and techniques.
- Ability to design and deliver inclusive, engaging lessons.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to working in a collaborative, supportive team environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with autistic students or students with additional needs.
- Background in curriculum development or special education.
- Experience in organizing and leading school-wide creative events or exhibitions.
- Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and student-centered learning approaches.
