The Opportunity:

We are seeking an inspiring and passionate Art Teacher to join our team for a part-time maternity cover role. This position involves teaching Art across Key Stage 2 and lower Key Stage 3. The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young learners and contribute to a vibrant, creative school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and manage the Art curriculum, including the development and monitoring of LTPs and MTPs within the department
  • Prepare and deliver stimulating lessons tailored to pupils’ needs and aligned with the school’s academic standards
  • Facilitate a learning experience that supports the development of self-esteem and interpersonal skills
  • Contribute to the extra-curricular programme and support pupils in preparing for Art Scholarships
  • Organise and lead the school’s annual Creative Arts Week in collaboration with SLT and EVC
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching practice, ensuring it is academically rigorous, innovative, and creative
  • Liaise with Drama and Music Departments to enhance cross-curricular opportunities
  • Prepare school reports and reports for external agencies as requested by the Head or SLT

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Teacher qualification and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching pupils aged 3-13
  • Understanding of the public school examination system in respect of Art scholarship examinations
  • Confident and competent use of IT
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Subject knowledge to challenge able students and achieve high outcomes

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Leadership or team collaboration experience
  • Background in extra-curricular programme development
  • Experience with cross-curricular projects
