The Opportunity:

As the Head of Modern Languages, you will lead and develop a dynamic department focused on academic excellence and language learning. This role is central to ensuring students achieve outstanding results in French and other modern languages, preparing them for entrance exams and future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Languages department, ensuring high academic standards and student achievement.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that supports preparation for Common Entrance, Scholarship, and Senior School entrance exams.
  • Promote and expand the teaching of French as the core language, with the potential to introduce additional languages.
  • Inspire and motivate both students and staff through innovative teaching and leadership.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate language learning across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Represent the department at school events and in external communications.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Languages, particularly French.
  • Experience in preparing students for entrance exams and academic assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and leading a Modern Languages department.
  • Familiarity with international education standards and curricula.
  • Experience in promoting language learning across a school community.
  • Background in co-curricular and pastoral activities.
