The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Design Technology & Engineering Teacher to join our dynamic department and inspire the next generation of thinkers and creators. This role will focus on delivering an engaging and innovative curriculum that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and technical expertise in Years 7 and 8.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver an inspiring and hands-on Design Technology & Engineering curriculum to Years 7 and 8.
- Use cutting-edge technologies such as computer-aided design and laser cutting to enhance teaching and learning.
- Encourage students to develop practical making skills and a deep understanding of materials and technical processes.
- Foster a collaborative and creative learning environment that promotes independent thinking and teamwork.
- Design and implement challenging 3D problem-solving activities that develop critical thinking and innovation.
- Support the school’s ethos of preparing students for an increasingly technological society.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and high-quality DTE department.
- Promote the value of design and engineering in shaping the world around students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Design Technology & Engineering at the secondary level.
- Strong understanding of current design and engineering practices and technologies.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to inspiring and motivating students to achieve their full potential.
Preferred
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and other digital manufacturing tools.
- Background in teaching boys or in a co-educational setting.
- Experience in developing cross-curricular links and integrating real-world problem-solving into the curriculum.
- Passion for innovation and a commitment to the school’s ethos of “the best way to predict the future is to design it.”
