As a Lead Science Technician (Maternity Cover), you will play a key role in supporting the Science Department during a critical period. Your responsibilities will include managing laboratory resources, ensuring health and safety standards are met, and assisting in the delivery of high-quality science education. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain laboratory equipment, chemicals, and resources for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Organise and prepare practical science activities for teaching staff
- Monitor and manage laboratory stock levels to ensure continuity of teaching
- Support staff with technical aspects of science lessons and experiments
- Maintain and clean laboratory spaces to the highest standards
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure the safe and effective delivery of science activities
- Provide independent and proactive technical support to the Science Department
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a science laboratory or technical support role
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety standards
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of teaching science at Key Stages 3 and 4
- Experience with managing laboratory stock and equipment
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in education
