The Opportunity:

As an Arts Therapist, you will deliver creative and therapeutic interventions to support children with special educational needs. This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the holistic development of students through music, art, drama, play, and dance movement therapies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and small group arts therapy sessions to students with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
  • Attend departmental meetings and peer supervision sessions to ensure quality and consistency of care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records and reports.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external services as needed.
  • Work within established guidelines and protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Support the ongoing development of the arts therapies and child psychotherapy team.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Current accreditation in arts therapy (music, art, drama, play, or dance movement).
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Experience managing a caseload across a range of ages (3–18 years).
  • Strong communication, writing, and numeracy skills.
  • Understanding of professional and therapeutic boundaries.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confidence in delivering therapeutic interventions in a school setting.
  • Experience with report writing and training delivery.
  • Passion for arts therapies within an educational context.
