The Opportunity:
As Assistant Director of Hockey, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of girls’ hockey at a school. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Director of Hockey and be part of a dynamic and successful Games Department, driving forward a programme that consistently performs at the highest levels of school sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Director of Hockey to develop and implement a high-quality hockey programme for girls.
- Assist in the organisation of the off-season programme, coaching, and fixtures schedule.
- Ensure all sessions meet safeguarding and health and safety standards.
- Deliver coaching across all current girls’ hockey teams.
- Support the deployment of coaching resources and the development of coaching programmes.
- Strengthen the school’s hockey outreach programme by building relationships with local clubs and schools.
- Identify and deliver staff training needs to enhance coaching standards.
- Help develop a challenging and realistic fixture list for all teams.
- Explore new competitive opportunities to enhance the school’s reputation in hockey.
- Assist in identifying talented athletes for scholarship programmes.
- Maximize social media to promote hockey at the school.
- Maintain relationships with local hockey clubs and pathway opportunities for athletes.
- Nominate individuals for awards and ensure opportunities for representative honours.
- Develop and lead an off-season development programme.
- Contribute to the long-term strategy for hockey at the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in coaching hockey at a high level.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff and coaches.
- Commitment to safeguarding and health and safety standards.
- Experience in developing and implementing sports programmes.
Preferred
- Experience in managing sports departments or similar roles.
- Familiarity with school sports scholarship programmes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with social media marketing in a sports context.
- Knowledge of local hockey pathways and opportunities.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary of £31,000.
