The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to support the teaching of Biology and Physics across all key stages. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for science and a commitment to providing high-quality practical learning experiences. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and developing the science department's resources and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Biology and Physics laboratory equipment and resources.
- Support teaching staff by preparing and setting up practical experiments and demonstrations.
- Ensure all laboratory areas are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Physics Technician and teaching staff to deliver a cohesive science curriculum.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new science experiments and teaching resources.
- Provide technical support during lessons and extracurricular science activities.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory usage, consumables, and equipment maintenance.
- Stay up to date with scientific developments and best practices in education.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a Biology laboratory or industrial setting.
- Practical experience in an educational environment, preferably with science teaching.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with teaching staff and other technicians.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Preferred
- Experience with Physics laboratory work.
- Knowledge of science curriculum requirements from Year 7 to A Level.
- Familiarity with modern science teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience with managing laboratory consumables and budgets.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £36,335 to £40,755 per annum (pro-rata).
