The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to support the teaching of Biology and Physics across all key stages. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for science and a commitment to providing high-quality practical learning experiences. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and developing the science department's resources and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Biology and Physics laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Support teaching staff by preparing and setting up practical experiments and demonstrations.
  • Ensure all laboratory areas are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Physics Technician and teaching staff to deliver a cohesive science curriculum.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new science experiments and teaching resources.
  • Provide technical support during lessons and extracurricular science activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory usage, consumables, and equipment maintenance.
  • Stay up to date with scientific developments and best practices in education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a Biology laboratory or industrial setting.
  • Practical experience in an educational environment, preferably with science teaching.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with teaching staff and other technicians.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience with Physics laboratory work.
  • Knowledge of science curriculum requirements from Year 7 to A Level.
  • Familiarity with modern science teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with managing laboratory consumables and budgets.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £36,335 to £40,755 per annum (pro-rata).
