The Opportunity:
As the Assistant Director of Rowing, you will be a key member of the rowing team, ensuring smooth operations and supporting the Director of Rowing in delivering a high-quality programme. This role combines senior coaching with administrative and logistical responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day administrative and operational aspects of the rowing programme.
- Coordinate with the Director of Rowing to align club strategy with daily activities.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, scheduling, and logistical planning for training and competitions.
- Maintain strong relationships with club partners and river users.
- Utilise technology and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Support and develop the wider coaching team through mentorship and collaboration.
- Ensure the club’s vision is translated into consistent, high-quality delivery for students.
- Promote a culture of excellence and student well-being within the rowing department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a senior coach with a focus on rowing.
- British Rowing Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong organisational and logistical skills with the ability to manage complex operations.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support the Director of Rowing.
Preferred
- Experience with managing large-scale rowing programmes or similar sports departments.
- Familiarity with rowing technology and software for scheduling and data management.
- Background in co-educational environments or student development initiatives.
- Strong emotional intelligence and leadership capabilities.
