Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of high-quality biology teaching and learning across the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement a well-sequenced and quality-assured biology curriculum.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the science department, ensuring consistency in practice and high standards of teaching.
  • Support staff development through training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement high-impact interventions to improve student outcomes and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the academy to align science provision with whole-school priorities.
  • Model best practice in science teaching and learning.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the science department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in biology.
  • Proven experience in science education and leadership within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design and implementation.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting high standards and student achievement.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or senior management role within a school.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged students or those with special educational needs.
  • Familiarity with STEM employer partnerships and career pathways.
