Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge students.
  • Lead and mentor other members of the English department.
  • Support the curriculum development and implementation across all key stages.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing detailed feedback to support learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning across the school.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student achievement and progress.
  • Stay up to date with developments in English education and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and team-working skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or acting as a senior teacher.
  • Experience in delivering GCSE and A Level English courses.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and differentiation.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
