The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Estates Manager, you will play a key role in managing the school’s facilities and ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment for students and staff. You will lead the caretaking team and handle both planned and reactive maintenance tasks. This is a dynamic and impactful role that supports the smooth running of a high-performing institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of three full-time caretakers
  • Oversee the resolution of planned and reactive maintenance issues
  • Ensure the school’s buildings and facilities are well-maintained and safe
  • Coordinate with internal and external contractors as needed
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and students regarding maintenance work
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, as required
  • Support the school’s commitment to a positive and inclusive environment
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in managing maintenance and estates operations
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience in resolving a wide range of maintenance issues
  • Leadership experience, preferably in a team management role

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of building maintenance systems and procedures
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns and non-standard hours
