Assistant Head of House role available for maternity cover until June 2027.

The Opportunity:

The Assistant Head of House plays a vital role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of students during the school day. This position is ideal for someone passionate about pastoral care, supervision, and supporting the development of young people in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Boarding House during the school day, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.
  • Provide proactive pastoral care and support to students, promoting their emotional and social development.
  • Supervise student behaviour and ensure compliance with all House routines and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to maintain a positive and cohesive community.
  • Organise and administer all House-related activities and administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the Head of House and other pastoral staff to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Promote a culture of kindness, respect, and shared values within the House community.
  • Support the implementation of the school’s academic and co-curricular programmes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or residential role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in managing and supporting teenagers in a residential environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Commitment to the values of kindness, respect, and shared responsibility.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or management role within a boarding environment.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and rewards of working with young people in a coeducational setting.
  • Knowledge of pastoral care best practices and student wellbeing strategies.
  • Experience with academic or co-curricular programme delivery.
