The Opportunity:
This role combines leadership with teaching in the Early Years and Key Stage 1. The Assistant Head of Pre-Prep will support the Head of Pre-Prep in strategic leadership, pastoral care, and academic development, while contributing to a creative and child-centred learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Early Years education and a passion for evolving teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Pre-Prep in the strategic leadership and development of the Pre-Prep.
- Deliver high-quality teaching in the Early Years and Key Stage 1, with a focus on Reception.
- Promote the Pre-Prep to prospective families and the wider community.
- Contribute to the development of a creative, research-informed, and child-centred curriculum.
- Ensure learning is engaging, purposeful, and developmentally appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Prep School and support cross-phase teaching where required.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
- Support the pastoral care and wellbeing of students in the Pre-Prep.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in Early Years education.
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of child development and pedagogy.
- Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
- Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.
Preferred
- Experience teaching in a Pre-Prep or Early Years setting.
- Familiarity with Outdoor Learning and Wellbeing initiatives.
- Experience with Digital Innovation and 21st Century Skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for promoting the school to families and the wider community.
