The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mentoring, you will lead and develop a highly successful mentoring programme that supports pupil wellbeing, nurtures leadership in older students, and ensures a confident transition into senior school life. This is a key pastoral leadership role that requires strong organisational skills, a commitment to character development, and the ability to inspire across year groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive mentoring programme that supports student wellbeing and academic success.
  • Foster leadership skills in older pupils and support their transition into senior school life.
  • Collaborate with teachers, students, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to pastoral care.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the mentoring programme and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to mentors and mentees, ensuring a positive and impactful experience for all.
  • Organise and deliver training sessions for mentors and staff to enhance mentoring practices.
  • Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and mutual support across the school community.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align mentoring initiatives with the school’s educational vision and values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A genuine commitment to character development and student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective mentoring programmes.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing a mentoring programme within a school environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • Experience with the use of technology to support pastoral care and mentoring initiatives.
  • Background in teaching or educational leadership.
