Summary:

Assistant Headteacher needed at a special needs school in Lancashire. Lead curriculum and support school leadership.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher, you will play a key role in the strategic and operational leadership of the school. You will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in delivering a rich curriculum and exceptional learning experiences. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead curriculum development, assessment, and enrichment across relevant phases.
  • Monitor teaching and learning and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support staff through CPD, coaching, and mentoring to develop excellent practice.
  • Contribute to school improvement planning, self-evaluation, and governance reporting.
  • Line manage teachers and teaching assistants effectively.
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and well-resourced learning environment.
  • Promote strong relationships with pupils, families, external partners, and the wider community.
  • Manage complex scenarios and resolve conflicts effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning Support (QTLS).
  • Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within relevant key stages and/or special needs environment.
  • Experience of leading a significant area or phase, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
  • Effective team management and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong communication skills with a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience in managing complex scenarios and conflict resolution.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership.
  • Experience working with external agencies and partners.
  • Experience in school improvement planning and governance reporting.
