The Opportunity:
As a Mentor in Alternative Provision, you will support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve success. You will work closely with the Bridge Leader and collaborate with staff, pupils, and parents to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties through individualised interventions.
- Collaborate with staff, pupils, and parents to promote positive behaviour and social inclusion.
- Work with the Bridge Leader to develop strategies that enhance student independence and self-esteem.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver targeted support to students requiring intensive intervention.
- Contribute to the development of policies and practices that support student well-being.
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with students and colleagues.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working in a school or educational setting with students who have challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and maintain consistent, respectful interactions.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in alternative provision or specialist support roles.
- Knowledge of SEMH and strategies for supporting students with complex needs.
- Experience with behaviour management and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Familiarity with educational frameworks and curricula.
