The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher Inclusion, you will lead the school’s approach to inclusion and serve as the SENDCo. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape policy and support students of all abilities. Your leadership will be vital in ensuring that every student has the chance to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s inclusion strategy and policies.
  • Act as the school’s SENDCo, providing expert guidance and support for students with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student welfare and achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion practices across the school.
  • Ensure that all staff are trained and equipped to support diverse student needs.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and equality throughout the school community.
  • Contribute to the development of whole-school improvement plans and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in educational leadership, ideally within an inclusive setting.
  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school.
  • Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice.
  • Experience in curriculum development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with inclusion strategies and policies in a multi-academy trust.
