The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Headteacher to lead and develop the Personal Development and Wellbeing strategy across the school. This role is central to creating a positive, inclusive culture that supports both student growth and staff well-being. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a holistic approach to personal development, ensuring it aligns with the school’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Personal Development and Wellbeing strategy across all year groups.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure well-being initiatives support academic and personal growth.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of well-being programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive school culture.
  • Deliver training and support to staff on well-being, mental health, and personal development.
  • Ensure policies and practices align with the school’s values of respect, integrity, and diversity.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote student confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
  • Support the delivery of PSHE curriculum and ensure it meets the needs of all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within education, with a focus on personal development and well-being.
  • Strong understanding of student welfare, mental health, and inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop well-being initiatives that align with school values.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery, particularly in PSHE and related areas.

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership position within a school or educational institution.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support systems.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
