The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Headteacher SENCo, you will lead and develop the support strategies for students with special educational needs. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of a dedicated learning environment, ensuring excellence in teaching and pastoral care for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and enhance the quality of teaching and support for students with special educational needs.
  • Develop a clear vision and sense of purpose for the Ursula Suite, creating a secure and supportive learning environment.
  • Act as a role model for staff and students, upholding high standards of behavior and achievement.
  • Foster a culture of achievement, including the recognition of student progress and success.
  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the SEND support services, including policy development and implementation.
  • Promote high standards of teaching and learning, serving as a lead learner in pedagogical practice.
  • Effectively manage and support the SEND staff team, ensuring a positive system of care and development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within special educational needs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in developing and implementing policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and student welfare.
  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in a school setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school rated Outstanding by OfSTED.
  • Background in Catholic education or a similar ethos.
  • Experience in leading a dedicated SEND provision within a small cohort.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in special educational needs support.
