The Opportunity:
As the Head of Inclusion and SENDCO, you will lead the Curriculum Support Department and ensure the effective delivery of SEND provision. This is a pivotal role in shaping an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the Curriculum Support Department, ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and priorities.
- Oversee the resourcing and delivery of SEND provision, working closely with subject leaders, teachers, and support staff.
- Ensure clear and appropriate procedures and expectations for supporting SEND students.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote inclusion and independence for all learners.
- Work collaboratively with the Extended Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement in inclusion practices.
- Support the delivery of the Autism Resource Provision for students with EHC Plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development for staff within the Curriculum Support Department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in running a SEN Department
- Significant expertise or qualifications in the field of SEN
- SENDCo qualification or The National Award for SENCos
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and student attainment
Preferred
- Experience with EHC Plans and autism support
- Experience in a large academy or federation setting
- Knowledge of inclusive mainstream provision
- Experience in curriculum development for SEND students
