The Opportunity:

As the Head of Inclusion and SENDCO, you will lead the Curriculum Support Department and ensure the effective delivery of SEND provision. This is a pivotal role in shaping an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the Curriculum Support Department, ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and priorities.
  • Oversee the resourcing and delivery of SEND provision, working closely with subject leaders, teachers, and support staff.
  • Ensure clear and appropriate procedures and expectations for supporting SEND students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote inclusion and independence for all learners.
  • Work collaboratively with the Extended Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement in inclusion practices.
  • Support the delivery of the Autism Resource Provision for students with EHC Plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development for staff within the Curriculum Support Department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience in running a SEN Department
  • Significant expertise or qualifications in the field of SEN
  • SENDCo qualification or The National Award for SENCos
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student attainment

Preferred

  • Experience with EHC Plans and autism support
  • Experience in a large academy or federation setting
  • Knowledge of inclusive mainstream provision
  • Experience in curriculum development for SEND students
