Director of Inclusion (SENCo and Deputy DSL) role with a focus on SEND and safeguarding.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Inclusion, you will lead the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the school, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to succeed. This role is central to shaping inclusive practice and safeguarding systems, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the school
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND provision
  • Work with leaders, teachers, families, and external agencies to secure effective support for pupils
  • Support safeguarding systems and practice as Deputy DSL
  • Contribute to the work of the extended leadership team and to whole school improvement
  • Develop and implement inclusive classroom practice across the school
  • Align inclusion, behaviour, safeguarding, attendance, and pastoral support
  • Promote the school’s Catholic ethos and values in all aspects of inclusion work
  • Ensure high standards of provision and outcomes for pupils with SEND and other vulnerable groups

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong track record in improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and other vulnerable groups
  • Experience in leading staff in developing inclusive classroom practice
  • Understanding of how to align inclusion, behaviour, safeguarding, attendance, and pastoral support
  • Ability to work strategically and operationally to improve systems, provision, and outcomes
  • Commitment to high standards, strong relationships, and the belief that every pupil can succeed
  • Willingness to hold or work towards the National Award for SEN Coordination

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education
  • Experience with safeguarding systems and practice
  • Experience in a coeducational setting
  • Experience with Catholic ethos and values in an educational context
  • Experience with professional development and training for staff
