The Opportunity:

The Assistant Headteacher – Student Culture will play a key role in shaping the student experience by leading initiatives around behaviour, attendance, and student voice. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to make a lasting impact on student outcomes and school culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop strategies to improve student behaviour and attitudes across the school
  • Oversee and monitor student attendance, implementing initiatives to increase engagement and reduce absence
  • Support and develop the student voice, ensuring students are actively involved in school decisions
  • Line manage and support staff within the attendance and pastoral teams
  • Work closely with the Headteacher to align student culture initiatives with the school’s overall vision
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student behaviour and attendance programmes
  • Promote a positive, inclusive school environment that supports student wellbeing and academic success
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure consistency in student culture across the school

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education
  • Strong knowledge of student behaviour management and attendance improvement strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusion

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a secondary school setting
  • Knowledge of pastoral care and student support systems
  • Experience with curriculum development and student engagement initiatives
  • Familiarity with the Embark Federation and its values
