The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and committed Head of Spanish Department to join a successful and ambitious MFL team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and inspire students, shape the curriculum, and contribute to the continued success of the department. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, approachable, and dedicated to student development and academic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Spanish department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular links and shared goals.
  • Mentor and support other members of the MFL department, fostering a culture of professional development.
  • Represent the department at staff meetings, parent evenings, and other school events.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of resources and facilities within the department.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the field of language teaching and incorporate innovative practices into the curriculum.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, preferably in a departmental role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of Spanish culture and current educational trends in language teaching.
  • Experience with GCSE and A Level qualifications in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices and differentiated instruction.
