Assistant House Parent for summer school program. Support students in a safe and fun environment.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant House Parent, you will play a key role in supporting students during their summer school experience. You will ensure a safe, happy, and homely environment in the boarding house, while also assisting with activities, excursions, and student welfare. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners in a dynamic and rewarding setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students during house time, activities, and free time to ensure a positive and safe living environment.
  • Assist with the administration of medication and liaise with the Pupil Services Manager and School Nurse on medical and welfare matters.
  • Deputise for the House Parent and Pupil Support Assistants when required.
  • Engage with students during excursions and other activities to promote a fun and inclusive learning experience.
  • Ensure the well-being and comfort of students in the boarding house at all times.
  • Work flexibly and be available 24/7 during the summer school period.
  • Promote a supportive and welcoming atmosphere that encourages student confidence and growth in English.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with young people in a residential or pastoral setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to student welfare and safety.
  • Flexibility to work long hours and irregular shifts.

Preferred

  • Experience in education or youth work.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Previous experience in a school or residential care environment.
  • Basic understanding of English language teaching or support.
