The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Houseparent, you will play a vital role in supporting the personal, social, and academic development of boarders. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives within a supportive and vibrant community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the houseparent in providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for boarders.
  • Assist in the supervision and care of students, including overseeing their wellbeing, discipline, and welfare.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive culture that encourages personal growth and community spirit.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to ensure a seamless experience for boarders.
  • Organize and participate in social, academic, and extracurricular activities that enhance student engagement.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, including those with complex needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of boarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or residential care role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Commitment to the values of inclusivity, respect, and student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • First aid and emergency response training.

Preferred

  • Experience working with international students or those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with pastoral care for students with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with the Duke of Edinburgh Award or similar leadership programs.
