The Opportunity:

As a school librarian, you will play a key role in managing library resources and supporting literacy initiatives across the school. You will work closely with teaching staff to create an engaging environment that encourages reading for pleasure and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain library resources and Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) to ensure they meet the needs of students and staff.
  • Support the implementation of literacy programmes across the school.
  • Promote a culture of reading for pleasure through engaging activities and events.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
  • Assist in the development of a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and staff on library services and resources.
  • Ensure the library remains a safe, well-organized, and stimulating space for all users.
  • Keep accurate records of library stock and usage.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in librarianship or education.
  • Experience in managing library resources and services.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students.
  • Commitment to promoting literacy and reading for pleasure.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of digital library systems and resources.
  • Experience with developing and delivering literacy programmes.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices.
