The Opportunity:

As a Science Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality science education to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is a fixed-term opportunity to cover maternity and parental leave, offering a chance to join a dedicated and enthusiastic Science team at a school that values innovation and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons that meet curriculum requirements and promote student achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Contribute to the development of the science department through collaboration and shared planning.
  • Act as a form tutor, if designated, and support student wellbeing and personal development.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to the school’s commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Support students in reaching their full potential through individualised guidance and encouragement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recent experience of teaching Science to Key Stages 3 and 4 across the ability range.
  • Knowledge of GCSE expectations in Science.
  • Hold a PGCE and have experience in continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and learning in Science.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their individual potential.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a Multi-Academy Trust or similar educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methods and technologies.
