The Opportunity:

Join a school as Assistant Principal (Inclusion & Safeguarding) and drive the development of safeguarding and inclusive practices across the academy. This role is central to ensuring student safety, wellbeing, and academic success, with a strong focus on leadership and strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and Prevent Lead, ensuring student safety and compliance
  • Establish and promote a strong safeguarding and inclusive culture within the academy
  • Implement and deliver a comprehensive safeguarding training programme for students, staff and parents
  • Oversee Alternative Provision and Early Help provision
  • Lead the transition of Year 6 into Year 7
  • Act as the Academy Mental Health Lead and Designated Teacher for LAC
  • Work with the Attendance Lead to monitor and re-engage absent students
  • Oversee the implementation of the RSHE curriculum and SEND/EAL provision
  • Coach and empower staff to deliver inclusive and adaptive teaching
  • Drive whole-school improvement through data analysis and strategic planning
  • Build strong partnerships with students, families, staff and external agencies

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Experience in specialist or highly inclusive educational settings
  • Strong understanding of statutory safeguarding and SEND frameworks
  • Child-centred, collaborative leadership style with safeguarding at its core

Preferred

  • Experience with the graduated approach for SEND
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes
  • Experience in leading transition processes
  • Strong understanding of mental health and wellbeing support in education
  • Experience in developing and delivering safeguarding training
