The Opportunity:
As an Assistant Principal Primary, you will lead and shape the pastoral care strategy across the primary phase, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for all students. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student success and school culture within a forward-thinking institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement safeguarding policies and procedures in line with ADEK, UAE, and international best practice
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL for the Primary Phase
- Manage safeguarding concerns, referrals, and records with confidentiality and professionalism
- Promote positive behaviour and high expectations through effective policy implementation
- Support staff with behaviour management and restorative approaches
- Monitor and analyse behaviour data to identify trends and implement targeted interventions
- Foster student wellbeing, emotional regulation, and resilience
- Provide leadership and line management to pastoral staff, including phase leaders and wellbeing teams
- Plan and deliver primary school events, including assemblies, celebrations, and parent workshops
- Contribute to the school’s strategic development plan, particularly in pastoral care and wellbeing
- Support inspection processes and self-evaluation with a focus on quality assurance
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher status with primary teaching experience
- Proven leadership experience in pastoral care, behaviour, or safeguarding
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding practices and child protection
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
- Ability to lead, inspire, and support staff effectively
Preferred
- Previous experience in an international or British-curriculum school
- Experience working in a whole-through school
- Safeguarding qualification (DSL training)
- Secure understanding of curriculum design
- Experience working with ADEK or similar inspection frameworks
- Holds or working towards NPQML or similar qualification
