Director of Sport needed at a leading international school in Abu Dhabi. Drive strategic development of PE and sports programs.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Sport, you will lead the strategic development of both curriculum PE and Co-Curricular Sport. This is a pivotal role in shaping a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture that supports student wellbeing, leadership, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Physical Education department and Co-Curricular Sports Programme
  • Develop and implement a strategic sporting vision aligned with the school’s educational goals
  • Monitor and analyze student progress through data-driven insights to ensure quality and impact
  • Coordinate external fixtures, staff deployment, and management of sports facilities
  • Oversee the organization of teaching groups, public examination entries, and student participation
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external sports organizations, clubs, and national governing bodies
  • Manage the sports budget and ensure all financial targets are met
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and risk assessments across all sports activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Graduate in Physical Education or Sport Science with Qualified Teacher Status
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience post-qualification
  • Experience teaching Physical Education in a British curriculum school
  • Proven leadership in managing a large department in a dynamic environment
  • Strong data analysis skills and awareness of current curriculum developments
  • Experience teaching students from diverse cultural and national backgrounds
  • Ability to manage and develop a large team with a clear strategic vision

Preferred

  • Experience in leading and managing a Co-Curricular Sports Programme
  • Background in sports leadership and strategic planning
  • Familiarity with ADISSA and experience in representing a school at committee meetings
  • Experience in organizing inter-school competitions and events
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement
