The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning, you will lead the school’s teaching and learning agenda, driving excellence in classroom practice, staff development, and quality assurance. This role is central to ensuring that all teachers deliver high-quality instruction and that students are equipped with the skills needed for future success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the teaching and learning strategy across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, feedback, and assessment practices.
  • Support and manage the development of Early Career Teachers through structured programmes.
  • Oversee the school’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) process for all staff.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and department heads to ensure consistent standards.
  • Implement systems and culture that promote high-quality teaching and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that planning, delivery, and assessment meet the school’s ambitious goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for all staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership or middle leadership role within education.
  • Strong knowledge of teaching and learning best practices.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff, including Early Career Teachers.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate teaching quality effectively.
  • Experience in leading and implementing CPD programmes.

Preferred

  • Experience in a sixth form or academy setting.
  • Familiarity with screen industries or media-related education.
  • Experience with educational technology and whole-school systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
