The Opportunity:
As a Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning experience for students with diverse needs. This position is ideal for someone passionate about inclusion, innovation, and supporting students to achieve their full potential in a dynamic post-16 environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to support students with special educational needs across academic, social, and pastoral areas.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to ensure effective support and interventions.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with special educational needs, providing regular reports and recommendations.
- Coordinate with the AP for Teaching and Learning and the AP for Inclusion to ensure inclusive practices are embedded across the curriculum.
- Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and skills for life beyond education.
- Work closely with the Pastoral Manager and Heads of Year to ensure consistent and effective support for all students.
- Ensure compliance with legal and policy requirements related to special educational needs.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and accessibility throughout the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
- Proven ability to develop and implement inclusive teaching strategies.
- Strong understanding of the Preparing for Adulthood agenda.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in a post-16 setting.
Preferred
- Experience in pastoral care or student support roles.
- Familiarity with screen industries or creative education sectors.
- Leadership experience in SEND or inclusion initiatives.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive teaching methods.
