Summary:

Assistant SENCO needed for remote role supporting students with SEND.

The Opportunity:

As an Assistant SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the SENCo team to implement and coordinate the school’s SEND policy, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic development and implementation of the school’s SEND policy and provision.
  • Coordinate specific provisions and support for individual pupils with SEND and their families.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues on teaching pupils with SEND and the graduated approach to support.
  • Deliver INSET and CPD for teachers and mentors on SEND best practices.
  • Maintain an accurate SEND register and assess, plan, do, and review (APDR) tracking.
  • Analyse assessment data to inform support planning and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Promote an inclusive culture and ensure students with SEND have access to the curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers through a shared SEND Team inbox.
  • Work with external agencies, including educational psychologists and local authority staff.
  • Ensure students with SEND have appropriate exam access arrangements and support during transitions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
  • Experience working at a whole-school level
  • Experience delivering training to staff and parents
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, families, and students

Preferred

  • NASENCO/NPQ SENDCO qualification
  • EAA Assessor qualifications
  • Experience working with students online
  • Experience leading parent workshops
  • Experience with KS4 and KS5 students
  • Knowledge of assistive technology
  • Executive function and numeracy interventions
