The Opportunity:

As SENCo, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they receive the best possible education. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the SEN strategy within a dynamic and student-centred institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies to support students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure individual learning plans are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with special educational needs and provide regular reports.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Liaise with external professionals to secure additional support for students when needed.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and support across the school.
  • Ensure that all SEN policies and procedures are followed in line with legal requirements.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to integrate SEN priorities into the school’s overall strategic goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEN frameworks and legislation.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and managing SEN policies.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Experience in working with students aged 16–19.
  • Background in pastoral care or student support services.
