The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager and take on key responsibilities during their absence. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and functional school environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key deputy to the Site Manager, leading site inspections and ensuring the school estate is well-maintained.
  • Coordinate routine and reactive maintenance, liaising with contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
  • Supervise and manage site staff, ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Oversee cleaning management, including contractor audits, performance reviews, and emergency cleaning coordination.
  • Lead inspections of grounds, trees, playing fields, and outdoor facilities to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate site operations for school events, ensuring site readiness, health and safety, and logistical arrangements are met.
  • Manage waste operations and oversee the maintenance, servicing, and repair of all school vehicles.
  • Take charge of health and safety responsibilities, conducting daily checks, risk assessments, and incident response.
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, audits, and statutory checks.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in premises management or maintenance, ideally in a school or similar environment.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative where needed.
  • Hold a clean driving licence.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, COSHH, and relevant statutory compliance.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing site staff or leading maintenance projects.
  • Interest in or experience with school events or outdoor facility management.
  • Experience with fishing or willingness to support the school’s fishing club.
