The Opportunity:

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Assistant Vice Principal with a specialism in English to join our leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on student outcomes and school improvement, while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the English department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Support the school's mission to raise academic standards and improve student achievement.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to implement school-wide strategies and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of English staff, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Contribute to the school's overall leadership and management, including pastoral and administrative duties.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Engage with the wider school community, including parents and external partners.
  • Support the school’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a Leader of English in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills with a track record of improving student outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of the English curriculum and current pedagogical practices.
  • Experience working within a multi-academy trust or similar collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively at all levels.

Preferred

  • Experience in school improvement or Ofsted inspection processes.
  • Leadership experience in a large or high-performing school.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with the 'I Do, We Do, You Do' teaching model and Blue Zone approach.
  • Experience in pastoral leadership or student welfare initiatives.
